Job summary

Walsingham Support is recruiting a Support Worker to help adults with learning disabilities live life their way. You will work in a person-centred setting, delivering compassionate care and creating meaningful daily activities.

No prior care experience is required, as full training is provided and a full UK driving licence is essential for this role. The role offers 12-hour 1:1 day or night shifts, plus 6-hour 2:1 community shifts to support community access and outings.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient and dedicated support workers are sought.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to respond to individuals’ needs.
• A willingness to provide personal care with full training provided.

About Thwaiteville

Thwaiteville is a bungalow where one lady is supported to live as independently and comfortably as possible.

The lady we support has a learning disability and non-epileptic attack disorder. She is mostly non-verbal and may display behaviours that challenge.

She also has Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) needs, so support workers will need to be attentive to her individual communication and support requirements.

We provide 24/7 one-to-one support, ensuring she receives consistent, person-centred care throughout the day and night.

We are looking for patient, compassionate and attentive Support Workers who can build a positive relationship with the person we support, understand her individual communication style and promote her independence, choice and wellbeing.

Shift Patterns

The role includes a variety of shifts to provide consistent, person-centred support:

12-hour 1:1 day shifts

12-hour 1:1 waking night shifts

6-hour 2:1 community shifts, supporting the individual to access the community, go shopping, attend activities and take part in meaningful outings.

The role requires flexibility to work across different shift patterns as part of the rota.

What Were Looking For

We are looking for compassionate, patient and dedicated Support Workers who are committed to supporting the individual to have an amazing quality of life.

Previous experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is desirable, as this is an important part of the individuals support.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and respond to the individuals needs.

A willingness to provide personal care is essential. Previous experience is not required, as full training can be provided, but you must be willing to learn and support the individual with dignity and respect.

A genuine desire to support the individual to live a fulfilling and meaningful life, promoting choice, independence and wellbeing.

The ability to work positively as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

A full UK Automatic driving licence is essential for this role.
