Walsingham Support is recruiting a Support Worker for a brand-new outreach package in Sandfields, Port Talbot. The role offers 20 or 16 hours per week at £13.45 per hour and a 2:1 support model.

Full training and ongoing support are provided to help you grow in care. You don’t need previous care experience; you’ll be supported by a friendly team to help adults with learning disabilities live life their way, in the community and at home.

Qualifications

• No prior care experience required; training provided.
• Able to work in a 2:1 support setting and manual handling.

Support Worker's required for a Brand-New Outreach Package in Sandfields, Port Talbot

Make a real difference from day one!

We are excited to be recruiting Support Workers for a brand-new outreach package in Sandfields, Port Talbot.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a new service and play an important role in supporting an individual to live a fulfilling, active and independent life within his local community.

You will be supporting one gentleman who lives with his sister and brother-in-law. He has a very supportive family around him, and you will work alongside them to provide high-quality, person-centred support.

The individual enjoys getting out into the community and taking part in activities, so you will support him to access activities and appointments and make the most of his time.

This is a 2:1 support package at all times, primarily to ensure safe and effective manual handling.

What will you be supporting with?

The support worker role will include:

• Providing 2:1 support at all times
• Supporting with manual handling
• Supporting with PEG feeding
• Supporting with medication
• Supporting the individual to access activities and opportunities within the community
• Driving the individuals vehicle to activities where required
• Promoting independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the individual and his family
• Working closely with the individuals family and wider support team

There are 20 & 16 hour-per-week positions available.

shifts currently planned as:

Monday Friday: 4:00pm 8:00pm

Saturday Sunday: 12:00pm 8:00pm

The role offers a consistent rota and the opportunity to become an important part of a brand-new support package.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is:

• Caring, compassionate and patient
• Person-centred and committed to promoting independence
• Confident supporting individuals with complex support needs
• Comfortable with manual handling
• Willing to support with PEG feeding and medication following appropriate training
• Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a 2:1 team
• Confident supporting someone within their family home and out in the community
• Friendly, proactive and enthusiastic about helping someone get the most from their day

A full UK Manual Driving Licence is preferred for this support worker role as you will need to drive the individual's vehicle to support him to attend activities.
