Job Overview

We are seeking a full-time Support Worker to join our team in St Albans. You will work a mixture of early shifts from 7 am–3 pm, late shifts from 2 pm–10 pm, and alternating weekends. You will support four children and young people with learning disabilities in all aspects of their daily lives, bringing good humour and resilience to make each day both enjoyable and meaningful. You will help them get ready for school, prepare meals, assist with household chores, provide personal care and medication support, and create a welcoming home while they are at school. During school holidays and weekends you will help ease the transition from school routines to enjoyable outings such as the beach or theme parks.

Responsibilities
  • Support all daily activities for the children and young people.
  • Prepare meals and assist with household chores.
  • Assist with personal care and medication.
  • Tidy and prepare the weekly activity plan for evenings while children are at school.
  • Guide children through structured days and teach essential life skills.
  • Provide a calm and reassuring presence to help children thrive.
  • Organise and accompany outings during school holidays and weekends.
Child Preferences
  • Alex enjoys quiet moments, reading stories, relaxing in the sensory room, or visiting the farm.
  • Arnold prefers watching favourite soaps, shopping, and finds real achievement in his work experience at the local charity shop.
  • Dave loves getting his hands dirty, exploring the garden, playing in the mud, and enjoys time in the park with staff.
  • Jack loves puzzles, playing games on his iPad, water play, Disney films, and has enjoyed trips to the theatre.
Qualifications
  • Must be a driver with a UK manual or automatic licence and must have own insured transport for business use.
  • Experience is not necessary; the right attitude, good customer service skills, and a willingness to learn are essential.
