Job summary

Acuity Care Group is seeking compassionate, reliable Support Workers to join our Bank Team across Greater Manchester. Flexible shifts include paediatric complex care, autism, and learning disability services.

You will support an 18-year-old young man with complex learning disabilities, visual impairment, and communication needs, providing person-centred care, daily living activities, personal care, medication, mobility, and community access.

Qualifications

  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting others.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Excellent communication and observation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, responsive, and professional in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to provide personal care and practical daily living support.
  • Ability to follow support plans, risk assessments, and behavioural support strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support.
  • Assist with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Support with medication administration and health-related needs.
  • Promote communication using visual aids and individual communication methods.
  • Encourage participation in sensory activities, education, hobbies, and community access.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in behaviour, wellbeing, and health.
  • Maintain accurate records and report concerns as required.
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with family members, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide reassurance and consistency during transitions and changes in routine.

Job description

Support Workers to join our Bank Team across Greater Manchester. With flexible shifts available, you'll have the opportunity to support a range of packages, including

paediatric complex care, autism, and learning disability services.

A key part of the role involves supporting an

18-year-old young man with complex learning disabilities, visual impairment, and communication needs. You will provide person-centred support with daily living activities, personal care, medication, mobility, and community access, while encouraging participation in activities he enjoys, such as music, sensory experiences, storytelling, and outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care and daily living activities.

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments, or complex needs (desirable).
  • Experience supporting individuals who communicate non-verbally (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and person-centred care approaches (desirable).
  • Experience working within social care, supported living, residential care, education, or healthcare settings (desirable).
