Job summary

Potens Group is hiring a Support Worker at Oakleigh Lodge in Dudley to provide compassionate, person-centred care for adults with learning disabilities, epilepsy, complex needs and autism.

The role involves personal care, meal support, hoist operation and assisting with activities. A minimum of 1 year in social care is expected; NVQ levels 2+ are preferred, with training offered for care certificates and ongoing development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the social care sector.
  • Experience with learning disabilities, autism, or epilepsy is essential.
  • Ability to operate hoists and support with personal care.
  • Willingness to achieve NVQ level 2+ in Health & Social Care if not already held.
  • Commitment to providing person-centred care.

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of personal care, feeding, cooking, some cleaning, and key working.
  • Operate hoists as required and apply epilepsy training when needed.
  • Support residents with activities within the service and in the community.
  • Provide person-centred care with empathy and professionalism.

Oakleigh Lodge is a residential care home in Dudley providing support and care for adults with learning disabilities, epilepsy, complex needs, and autism.

  • Full time 35.5 hours. Shifts will be between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm. We operate a two week rolling rota.

What you’ll be doing:
  • All aspects of personal care, feeding, cooking, some cleaning, and key working.
  • You will be required to operate hoists and will have previous experience of doing this.
  • Supporting with activities and interests both within the service and out in the community.
  • Epilepsy training will be given; however, previous experience is required.
  • Providing person centered care.
Who you are:
  • You will have a minimum of 1 year of experience working within the social care sector.
  • Experience of workingwith either learning disabilities, autism, or epilepsy is essential.
  • You will have previous experience in operating hoists.
  • You have the ability and passion to support the individual needs of our residents, providing high quality, person centred care.
  • An NVQ level 2 or above in health and social care would be preferable but not essential; if you don’t have this, then you will have a willingness to achieve.
