Home, a place where you belong

Want to be part of a team that really cares and empowers you to help change a customer’s life for the better? As our Lead Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex mental health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. You’ll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations. Amazing we know!

Typical day as a Lead Support Worker (known by us as Coordinator)
  • Creating support plans with your customers and coordinating our small team of Support Workers working to the plans.
  • Customer group - severe and enduring mental health, may also have a substance misuse issue, and/or a mild learning disability/ASD
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch-ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to collaborate with colleagues too.

Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers' lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for one of the top ten Great Places to Work in the UK!

You bring
  • Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working collaboratively with an eye for detail.
  • Experience of creating person-centred support plans and supporting colleagues in working to the plans.
  • Experience of coordinating and assessing customer referrals.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach.

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.

Our team

You’ll join Kathy and our East Ipswich Cluster team, who are super passionate about what we do! We’re really proud of supporting customers and each other when things get a bit tough from time to time. We’re a supportive bunch and like to enjoy a slice of cake or a biscuit and a cuppa!

Job details
  • We are flexible with your schedule, but we need to meet the needs of our customers, which may involve adjusting start or finish times.
  • We have a 4-week rolling rota working across services in Ipswich.
  • Although there is some lone working, we regularly meet for training and team meetings.
  • You should be able to use technology for creating and updating support plans, completing online learning, and collaborating with colleagues.
  • An Enhanced DBS check is required, and we will cover the cost.
A place where you belong

Great things happen when we can be ourselves at work. We want all our colleagues to be who they truly are here. Our internal diversity networks, peers and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) support us all to be our best. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!

What’s in it for you?
  • 34 days leave (including bank holidays and a “me day” to use for whatever you fancy), increasing to 39, with the option to buy 5 more, and time off for volunteering.
  • Health cash plan saving you from £1140 per annum, covering dental, optical, prescriptions, alternative therapies, and more.
  • Over 800 high street discounts on groceries, holidays, and days out. Save money on phones, bikes, or cars.
  • Opportunities to grow within the organization as your career progresses.
  • We are the 10th Best Place in the UK for Wellbeing, offering tools and support when you need them.
