Job summary

A welcoming specialised school in Tring is seeking a caring, patient and experienced Supply SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support for pupils with additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN professional looking for flexible supply work within a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with SEN and additional needs.
  • Support pupils with ASC/ASD and other learning or communication needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to facilitate engaging learning activities.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships and support emotional, social and academic development.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt approaches to meet individual pupil needs and follow safeguarding policies.
  • Work effectively as part of the wider school team.

Job Role of a Supply SEN Teaching Assistant in Tring
  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with SEN and additional needs
  • Support pupils with ASC/ASD and other learning or communication needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils with their emotional, social and academic development
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
  • Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies
  • Work effectively as part of the wider school team
Job Requirements

The ideal Supply SEN Teaching Assistant in Tring will have:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN setting (essential)
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Experience providing 1:1 support
  • Knowledge or practical experience of ASC/ASD
  • A patient, nurturing and reliable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supply work
  • A genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs
