Job summary

Reed is recruiting for an SEN Support Assistant at a DN12 primary school. You will join on a full-time, long-term basis, delivering 1:1 support to pupils with ASD/SEMH and rotating across classrooms and the school’s provision unit.

The role offers immediate start, a supportive leadership team, and valuable experience within a well-established SEN environment.

SEN Support Assistant - ASD & SEMH Primary School DN12

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting children with additional needs?

A friendly primary school in DN12 is seeking a committed SEN Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The role is available immediately and offers the opportunity to support a number of pupils with ASD and SEMH needs across different areas of the school.

About the Position:

Working to a planned timetable, you will provide 1:1 support to several pupils throughout the week. Your time will be split between mainstream classrooms and the school's internal provision unit, helping children access learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support for pupils with ASD and SEMH needs
  • Support learning, engagement and emotional regulation strategies
  • Work flexibly across classrooms and internal provision
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
