Job summary

A leading utilities company in Cardiff is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Design Engineer to join their Engineering Design team. This role involves preparing concept designs for substations and ensuring compliance with relevant policies. Candidates should ideally hold a higher BTEC or HNC in an engineering discipline and have experience with AutoCAD. The position offers a hybrid working model after initial training is completed.

Qualifications

• Qualified to higher BTEC / HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in preparing and manipulating engineering drawings is preferred.
• Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concept substation designs at pre-sanction stage.
• Work closely with other Engineering Designers on a project basis.
• Manage design workload and brief junior team members.
• Respond promptly to site queries during construction.
• Ensure compliance of design output with relevant policies.
• Identify safety implications of design decisions.
• Design indoor and open-terminal substations.
• Provide design outputs for Protection and Control Panel designs.
