Job summary

Babcock offers a four-year Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Bristol, starting September 2027, with a funded BEng (Hons) degree through UWE. You’ll rotate through engineering teams, perform structural assessments, and learn to use ANSYS, FloMASTER, MathCAD and AutoCAD under expert mentorship.

You will gain exposure to safety cases, certification activities, and lifecycle support for submarine projects while pursuing professional registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing from UWE is studied during the apprenticeship.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent are required.
• A-levels: Mathematics plus a second science subject are required; minimum two A-levels.

Responsibilities

• Assess submarine structures for explosive shock survivability.
• Conduct technical performance analyses on mechanical systems and components.
• Support technical investigations and feasibility studies; participate in platform surveys at Devonport and Clyde.
