Job summary

Babcock International offers a 5-year Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Degree Apprenticeship at Level 6, starting with an apprenticeship salary of £27,381 in Bristol. You’ll study towards a BEng (Hons) degree while contributing to submarine electrical systems and gaining hands-on experience.

You’ll spend two days per week at the Bristol centre, with university study the rest of the time. On completion you’ll earn a Professional Engineering Institution accredited degree and progress toward

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) with English and Mathematics at B/6 or higher.
• 3 A Levels in Maths and two other STEM subjects, T Level in Engineering or equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC with strong mathematical element.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Attitude and enthusiasm to be part of Babcock International.
• Genuine interest and passion for building a career as an Electrical Engineer.
• Some experience producing drawings using CAD software (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Producing electrical drawings, calculations, specifications, schedules, and reports.
• Creating technical documentation to support design and engineering of technical solutions.
• Surveying submarines during dockyard maintenance periods.
• Using CAD tools to assist with design changes and 3D boat models.
• Receiving training in Electrical Safety and BS7671 (IET Electrical Wiring Regulations).
