Job summary

Gretton Primary Academy is seeking a compassionate Student Support Officer to join our pastoral team. The role focuses on helping children overcome barriers to engagement and achievement, building trusted relationships with pupils and families.

You will work with teachers, SEND colleagues and external professionals to provide targeted support, monitor wellbeing and attendance, and promote positive behaviours and attitudes to learning. This is a 20-hour per week, term-time position.

Qualifications

• Building trusting relationships with pupils and families.
• Identifying barriers to learning, attendance, behaviour or wellbeing.
• Providing targeted pastoral support for individuals or groups.
• Promoting safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.

Responsibilities

• Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils.
• Addressing barriers affecting learning, attendance, behaviour or wellbeing.
• Providing targeted pastoral support for individual pupils and groups.
• Supporting pupils to understand and regulate their emotions and behaviour.
• Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and attitudes towards school.
• Monitoring attendance and liaising with families on punctuality.
• Collaborating with staff and external professionals to ensure joined-up support.
• Maintaining records and contributing to plans and reviews.
