Job summary

Selston High School is seeking a Pastoral Support Officer to assist a designated Head of Year in pastoral matters, safeguarding and parental engagement. The role supports Attendance Officers with attendance issues within the designated year group and involves working with students to overcome barriers to learning.

The successful candidate will have experience mentoring or coaching young people, including those with challenging behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring, coaching or working with young people.
• Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Follow a structured timetable with designated tasks to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
• Support attendance team: make calls, monitor and follow up on attendance.
• Provide pastoral support within the year group, including uniform checks and lesson drop-ins.
• Carry out duties before school, at break and lunchtime, and in the Pastoral base.
• Provide corrections support after school and on-call support around site.
• Build relationships with families and external agencies.
