Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer in Kettering to bolster wellbeing, attendance and behaviour in a secondary school environment. You will build strong relationships with pupils, teachers and families, supporting students inside and outside the classroom to help them reach their potential.

The role requires experience with young people, excellent communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, with an Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one

Qualifications

• Experience with children/young people in education, youth work, mentoring or care settings.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, resilient and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Willing to obtain Enhanced DBS through Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students across the school.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage engagement in learning.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student wellbeing.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, and student welfare.
• Support students through interventions and mentoring programmes.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
