Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Student Progress Coach to join primary schools across North Durham. You will support pupils with learning, wellbeing and development, acting as a familiar, positive presence within schools.

Ideal candidates have recent school experience or transferable skills from related fields and hold Level 2/3 qualifications in childcare or education. This role emphasizes safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience in a school, education or similar learning environment (preferred).
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience (preferred).
  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and inspire pupils to engage consistently and positively in lessons.
  • Encourage independence by helping pupils develop communication, organisation and self-management skills.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to help learners overcome barriers and make progress.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and provide encouragement and guidance throughout their learning.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality, in line with school policies and procedures.

Progress Coach - Requirements & Skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • A positive, enthusiastic and supportive approach to helping children achieve their full potential
  • Recent experience working in a school, education or similar learning environment (preferred)
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Education or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
