Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Social & Emotional Support Assistant to join a Primary School in North Durham. You’ll help create a welcoming, secure learning environment that supports pupils with diverse needs.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children.
  • Understanding of additional needs and how to support them.
  • Recent experience in a school or education setting (preferred).
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or similar — or equivalent hands-on experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to pupils' individual learning needs.
  • Helping students to access the curriculum through challenging and exciting tasks and lessons.
  • Fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued, respected, and included.
  • Assisting with the delivery of targeted intervention and catch-up sessions to help pupils bridge learning gaps.

Support Assistant - Requirements or Skills:
  • Passion for working with children
  • Understanding of additional needs and how to support them
