Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Student Engagement Mentor to support learners in a North Durham primary setting. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-to-one or small group support, helping to build a secure and positive learning environment.

We welcome candidates with a genuine passion for children and previous school-based experience. Training, CPD opportunities, and ongoing support are provided by Milk Education.

Qualifications

• Real passion for working with children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting children's learning.
• Understanding of additional needs and how to support them.
• Recent experience working in a school or education setting (preferred).
• A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare or education — or equivalent hands-on experience (preferred).

Student Engagement Mentor - Requirements or Skills:

• A real passion for working with children

• Supporting learners by providing one-to-one or small group assistance
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals
• Maintaining safeguarding and confidentiality, following school policies
• Encouraging independence by helping pupils develop communication and self-management skills
