Job summary

WCG is seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to work with the Head Teacher and staff to support students facing behavioural challenges. You will help build self-regulation skills, lead activities to boost engagement and resilience, and contribute to academic success and wellbeing.

Student experience is central; you’ll foster a safe community and encourage exploration of new interests while coordinating with teachers and external partners.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2.
• Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
• Experience working with young people, ideally in a mainstream educational or youth development setting.
• Creative and proactive mindset to engage students in both academic and extracurricular activities.
• Commitment to safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and group interventions to support students with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
• Use activity-based strategies to help students manage emotions, build self-esteem, and resilience.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams to create tailored behaviour management plans.
• Develop and lead engaging extracurricular activities to boost involvement and development.
• Work with students to participate in College wide events to promote teamwork and social interaction.
• Help students discover hobbies and interests as positive outlets for energy.
• Coordinate enrichment activities like sports, arts shows and cultural events.
• Coordinate with teachers, tutors and external agencies for cohesive support.
• Follow safeguarding protocols and attend College delivered training.
