Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a high-performing secondary school in Southampton to recruit an Attendance Officer. You will monitor attendance and punctuality, support families, and work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to raise attendance standards across the school.

The role requires experience in attendance or pastoral administration, strong organisational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information. Experience with SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality.
• Follow up unexplained and persistent absences.
• Contact parents and carers to address attendance issues.
• Identify attendance patterns and contribute to interventions.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and produce reports.
• Support attendance meetings and liaise with safeguarding teams.
• Coordinate with pastoral staff and external agencies as needed.
