Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an Attendance Officer for a 11–18 secondary school in Liverpool. You will oversee daily attendance, liaise with Heads of Year and safeguarding leads, and implement strategies to improve punctuality.

The role requires experience in attendance or pastoral work, proficiency with SIMS/Arbor and MS Office, and strong communication skills. The position is full-time, on-site, with a competitive local authority scale.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in attendance, pastoral, or administrative role in a school.
• Proficiency in educational management software (SIMS/ Arbor) and MS Office.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and discretion.
• Knowledge of attendance guidelines and safeguarding procedures.
• Valid UK driving license preferred for home visits.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily registration and first-day absence calls using school management software.
• Identify attendance trends, track persistent absence, and coordinate early interventions.
• Conduct home visits and attendance meetings with parents and carers.
• Liaise with DSL and EWOs on compliance, court proceedings, and notices.
• Generate weekly and termly attendance reports for SLT and Governing Body.
