Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a busy secondary school in Luton hire an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administrative team. The role focuses on monitoring attendance, following up absences and liaising with parents and staff to improve attendance levels.

The position requires DBS clearance and prior school attendance experience. The successful candidate will work with pupils, parents and leaders to address attendance concerns, maintain records in the MIS and support

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a School Attendance Officer or within a school pastoral/attendance team is essential.
• Experience using SIMS, Arbor or another school MIS is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of school attendance procedures, safeguarding and confidentiality.
• An enhanced DBS will be required.

Responsibilities

• Following up unexplained absences.
• Contacting parents regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintaining accurate attendance records.
• Identifying patterns of persistent absence.
• Preparing attendance reports for pastoral and senior leadership teams.
• Supporting attendance improvement plans.
• Working alongside Heads of Year and pastoral staff.
• Maintaining records of attendance meetings and interventions.
• Communicating professionally with parents.
• Supporting referrals and communication with relevant external agencies.
• Ensuring attendance information is accurately recorded on the school's MIS.
