Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a high-performing secondary school in Southampton to recruit an Attendance Officer. You will monitor attendance and punctuality, support families, and work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to raise attendance standards across the school.

Previous School Experience Essential

A high-performing secondary school in Southampton is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and safeguarding team.

Previous experience working within a school is essential, ideally in attendance, pastoral administration or a similar pupil-facing role.

You'll monitor attendance closely, identify concerns early and work with students, families and staff to improve attendance and punctuality.

Your Responsibilities

• Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality
• Following up unexplained and persistent absence
• Contacting parents and carers
• Identifying attendance patterns
• Maintaining accurate attendance records
• Producing attendance reports
• Supporting attendance interventions
• Working alongside pastoral and safeguarding teams
• Liaising with external agencies where required
• Supporting attendance meetings and reviews

About You

You should be organised, confident communicating with families and comfortable handling sensitive information.

Experience using SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom or another school MIS would be highly advantageous.
