Job summary

Elite Supply Services is seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to support a secondary school in Stafford. The role involves monitoring attendance, engaging with students and families, and coordinating with pastoral and safeguarding teams to remove barriers to learning.

Applicants should have prior attendance or safeguarding experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to conduct home visits when required.

Qualifications

• Experience in school attendance, safeguarding or family support.
• Knowledge of current school attendance regulations and statutory guidance.
• Ability to handle sensitive conversations with students and families.
• Excellent organisation and record-keeping.
• Willingness to undertake home visits.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and follow up on attendance.
• Meet with students and parents or carers to discuss attendance concerns.
• Identify barriers affecting attendance and engagement.
• Develop and monitor attendance action plans.
• Conduct appropriate home visits where necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential attendance records.
• Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and senior leadership teams.
• Liaise with external agencies and local authority services when required.
• Ensure the school follows current attendance legislation, regulations and guidance.
