Job description

If you’re someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, this role could be perfect for you. You’ll need to be enthusiastic, adaptable and ready to learn as the Street works team responds to the ever-changing demands of managing works on the highway network. If you’re detail-oriented and confident in building strong relationships with internal colleagues and external partners, you’ll fit right in.

What’s the role all about?

As a Streetworks Technical Officer, you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth operations of the North East Lincolnshire Permit Scheme (NELPS). This scheme helps manage works on our highways, keeping traffic flowing and communities connected. You’ll be responsible for issuing permits, coordinating works and maintaining compliance with the Traffic Management Act 2004. It’s a role that combines administration, customer service and collaboration to make a real difference in how our roads are managed.

What will your day look like?

Your day will consist of processing permit applications and liaising with utility companies, then move on to updating systems like Symology Aurora and StreetManager. You’ll handle enquiries from contractors and the public, investigate complaints, and even attend site visits when needed. Alongside this, you will collect and analyse data to produce performance reports, ensuring everything runs efficiently and in line with regulations.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. You will need good IT skills, the ability to manage your workload effectively, and confidence in resolving problems. Experience in a multi-functional environment and working with external partners is essential, while knowledge of Streetworks or permit schemes is desirable. If you’re proactive and a great communicator, we’d love to hear from you.

Why join us?

Joining our Streetworks team means being part of a forward-thinking council that values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. You’ll work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, tackling challenges that keep our highways safe and communities connected. We offer the chance to develop your skills, work with supportive colleagues, and make a real impact on local infrastructure. If you’re looking for a role that combines responsibility, variety, and the opportunity to grow, this is the perfect place to build your career.
