Job summary

South Wales Police is seeking an experienced Technical Resource Planning Manager to lead the planning, coordination and allocation of specialist technical resources across programmes, projects and BAU activities.

The postholder will maintain a reliable view of skills, capacity and availability, working with project managers and service managers to ensure appropriately skilled resources are allocated at the right time and for the required duration.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in resource planning and capacity management.
• Experience coordinating specialist resources across multiple projects/programmes.
• Ability to assess resource requirements including skills, effort and timing.
• Maintaining an accurate view of capability, capacity and commitments.
• Strong analytical skills to compare demand vs. capacity and identify risks.
• Experience developing integrated resource plans to inform start dates and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a current view of specialist resources, their skills, availability and release dates.
• Identify and validate skills, roles and durations required for projects.
• Match resources to project requirements ensuring appropriate allocation.
• Coordinate allocation across programmes and BAU services while balancing priorities.
• Produce forward-looking resource plans with allocations, demand and capacity.
• Advise governance bodies on resource sufficiency to commence projects and timelines.
