Job summary

IONATE is a deep tech scale-up building the hardware and software backbone for smart grids. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will lead direct-material sourcing strategy, supplier selection and contracting as HIT moves from engineering builds to UK manufacture and scaled contract manufacturing.

You will translate demand into material requirements, manage pilot-build purchasing and supply, and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance to mitigate risks and drive cost-down

Qualifications

• Experience building direct-material sourcing strategies and supplier onboarding.
• Translate demand into material requirements and manage BOM changes.
• Evaluate total cost, lead times and supplier risk.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance.
• Proven negotiation and contracting experience with suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Build direct-material sourcing strategies for components and equipment.
• Translate approved unit demand and BOM revisions into material requirements and plans.
• Find and qualify suppliers via RFI/RFP and due diligence.
• Lead competitive supplier selection with bid packs and cost analysis.
• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, terms, IP and warranties.
• Manage pilot-build purchasing and supply; place orders and resolve issues.
• Manage supply-chain risk and resilience with mitigation and dual-source plans.
• Establish supplier governance and purchasing controls.
• Oversee commercial manufacturing-partner work for future scaling.
• Hands-on sourcing from engineering inputs to launch; understand complex hardware.
