Job summary

IONATE is a deep tech scale-up building the hardware and software backbone for smart grids. We are seeking a Lead Industrialisation Engineer to bridge Engineering and Operations, transitioning the HIT into safe, repeatable UK manufacturing and scalable contract manufacturing.

The role is senior, hands-on, and focuses on industrialisation across NPI and production readiness. You will lead manufacturing concepts, equipment delivery, design-for-manufacture reviews, and partner transfers, while

Qualifications

• Relevant industrialisation experience taking electromechanical hardware from prototype to production.
• Ability to work with engineers and technicians on the shop floor to solve build issues.
• Collaborative style to align Engineering and Operations on shared objectives.
• Formal technical foundation with manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic or production engineering background.

Responsibilities

• Lead industrialisation delivery and maintain the plan coordinating Engineering and Operations.
• Establish practical build concepts, equipment needs, and capacity plans for production readiness.
• Own manufacturing equipment delivery ensuring safety and maintainability for production.
• Lead production readiness documentation including work instructions and test requirements.
• Facilitate design for manufacture and assembly reviews and capture manufacturing impacts.
• Manage production-readiness risks and escalate unresolved issues for decisions.
• Support manufacturing builds by coordinating with engineers and technicians on the shop floor.
• Implement approved configuration changes with traceable build records.
• Lead transfer to manufacturing partners with documentation, training and ramp support.
• Drive industrialisation readiness with milestones, risks and build metrics.
