Job summary

Ridgway Rentals Ltd in Oswestry is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow hire revenue by winning new customers and deepening relationships with existing clients. You will identify opportunities across sectors, build a robust pipeline, and lead quotations and tender submissions in concert with operations and accounts teams.

The role requires experience in business development or sales within plant/equipment hire, a good grasp of construction plant, and a proactive, commercially minded

Qualifications

• Proven experience in business development or sales, ideally within plant hire, equipment hire, construction or a related sector.
• Good understanding of construction plant and how it is used on site.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Confident communicator, comfortable with site operatives to directors.
• Self-motivated, organized with diary and pipeline management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and holds a valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Identify, target and win new customers across construction, civils, groundworks, utilities, landscaping, agriculture and domestic/trade sectors.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of leads and tenders, and follow up on inquiries promptly.
• Prepare quotations, hire proposals and tender submissions with operations and accounts teams.
• Attend site visits, trade shows, networking events and local business groups to raise Ridgway Rentals’ profile.
• Develop strong, long-term relationships with existing customers and increase hire volumes.
• Collaborate with depot, workshop, transport and hire desk teams to fulfil customer promises.
