Job summary

Galliford Try Group is seeking a commercially focused Bid Director in Plymouth to lead major bid and framework submissions within the Environment Business. You will steer win strategies, govern tender processes and engage clients to secure profitable opportunities across the UK water and infrastructure sectors.

You will lead multidisciplinary bid teams, manage governance, and drive continuous improvement in bid performance while collaborating with operational and commercial colleagues.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in work-winning, bid leadership or business development within construction/infrastructure sectors.
• Proven success leading major framework bids and strategic pursuits.
• Experience operating at senior bid leadership level.
• Strong understanding of public and private sector procurement processes.
• Demonstrable experience securing high-value contracts.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Strong stakeholder management from operations to executive level.
• Ability to develop and execute win strategies.
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead major bid submissions and framework opportunities across the Environment Business.
• Analyse tender documents and resource bid teams effectively.
• Develop winning strategies aligned to client drivers and business goals.
• Plan bids with submission programmes, milestones and gates.
• Produce high-quality, compliant tender submissions.
• Chair bid team meetings and coordinate contributions from cross-functional teams.
• Governance in line with BMS and client requirements.
• Present bid strategies to senior leadership and directors.
• Manage submissions via Bravo/Ariba and client portals.
• Support mobilisation and client engagement after award.
• Capture lessons learned to improve future bids.
