Job summary

The Yorkshire Trading Company is hiring a Part-time Store Assistant in York to join our busy retail team. You will support the store manager, supervise on weekends, and help train cashiers and floor colleagues. A positive attitude, flexible hours, and a customer-focused approach are essential.

• Retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the store manager in day-to-day store operations.
• Deputise in the absence of the Store Manager (key holder).
• Support in managing and training retail colleagues, including cashiers.
• Work on store displays, stock rotation and putting away stock.
• Keep up-to-date with products, services and promotions.
• Handle customer questions, complaints and issues.
• Escort customers to racks and counters, delivering traditional customer service.
• Contributes to team goals by achieving related results.
• Cashing up duties as required.
• Ensure pricing is correct.

The ideal candidate would benefit from being flexible as additional hours may be required at busy times

Duties to include but are not limited to:

• To assist the store manager in the day to day running of the store
• Deputise in the absence of the Store Manager (key holder)
• Support in the management and training of retail colleagues, including cashiers and the replenishment team working on the shop floor.
• Work on store displays / stock rotation and put away
• Keep up-to-date with all of our products, services and promotions.
• Handle customer questions, complaints, and issues
• Direct customers by escorting them to racks and counters suggesting items, delivering great, traditional customer service
• Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Cashing up duties as and when required
• Ensure pricing is correct.
