Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Stop Smoking Advisor to help residents quit smoking and improve health. You will provide guidance, encouragement and practical support, using behavioural techniques and motivational interviewing to help people stay on track and reach milestones.

You’ll deliver support through a mix of telephone and face-to-face clinics, maintain records, manage appointments and engage with local communities to raise awareness of the service.

Qualifications

• Experience in talking with residents about behaviour change.
• Experience using motivational interviewing or behavioural support techniques.
• Ability to reach out and engage communities with health advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioural support and motivational interviewing to help residents quit smoking.
• Deliver support through telephone and face-to-face clinics; build rapport and provide encouragement.
• Keep accurate records, manage appointments and track progress.
• Undertake outreach to raise awareness of the stop smoking service.
• Support residents through quit dates and milestone celebrations.
