Job description

Based in High Wycombe, this permanent, full-time Steel Erector role involves travelling to various project sites.

Working 08:00–17:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00–16:00 on Fridays, the postholder erects structural steel frames, beams, columns and associated components. Duties include reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and site plans, and coordinating with site supervisors, crane operators and fabrication teams. The successful candidate must work independently, manage day-to-day site activities and ensure smooth progress across each stage of erection. Experience in steel erection and site installation is essential.

The salary starts at a minimum of £34,000 per annum, rising depending on experience.

HOURS: 08:00-17:00 Monday – Thursday & 07:00 – 16:00 Fridays

We are seeking an experienced Steel Erector who can not only deliver high quality on site installation work but also take responsibility for managing day to day activities on site. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, coordinating tasks, and ensuring smooth progress across multiple stages of steel erection.

Key Responsibilities

• Erect structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and site plans
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, crane operators, and fabrication teams
• Install bolted connections, bracing, and secondary steelwork
• Operate lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely
• Maintain high standards of site safety and housekeeping
• Adapt to changing project requirements and assist with on site problem solving

Requirements

• Proven experience as a steel erector on commercial or industrial projects
• Strong understanding of structural steel installation and site safety
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings
• CSCS card required; IPAF, CPCS, or slinger/signaller qualifications advantageous
• Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
• Full UK driving licence
• Own transport essential
• Ability to weld would be advantageous
