Job summary

The Best Connection is seeking an experienced Steel Erector, Steel Fitter or Welder for a varied role combining site installation with workshop fabrication. The role involves working on projects across the UK, traveling and staying away when required, with accommodation and expenses provided.

You will erect and install structural steelwork, fit beams and platforms, read drawings and weld where needed, while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• CSCS card valid and in good standing.
• IPAF licence required.
• Previous experience as a steel erector or fitter.
• Fabrication and welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience working at height.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

• Erect and install structural steelwork.
• Fit beams, columns, platforms, staircases, ladders and handrails.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Align, position and secure steelwork.
• Install bolted connections and fixings.
• Drill, cut, grind and fit steel components.
• MIG/MAG welding and fabrication work.
• Work safely from MEWPs and at height.
• Assist with lifting and positioning steel structures.
• Complete quality and installation documentation.
• Maintain excellent health and safety standards.

Are you an experienced Steel Erector, Steel Fitter or Welder looking for a varied role that combines site installation work with workshop fabrication?

We are recruiting for a skilled individual to join a growing fabrication and installation team working on projects throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on-site, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is happy to travel and work away when required.

£18.00 per hour | UK-Wide Projects | Accommodation & Expenses Provided

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm

Friday: 7:00am - 12:00pm

Additional overtime may be available depending on project requirements.

The Role

You will be involved in the installation, fitting and erection of structural and miscellaneous steelwork on customer sites across the UK, alongside workshop-based fabrication and welding activities when required.

Duties Include:

• Erecting and installing structural steelwork
• Fitting beams, columns, platforms, staircases, ladders and handrails
• Reading and interpreting engineering and installation drawings
• Aligning, positioning and securing steelwork
• Installing bolted connections and fixings
• Drilling, cutting, grinding and fitting steel components
• MIG/MAG welding and fabrication work
• Working safely from MEWPs and at height
• Assisting with lifting and positioning steel structures
• Completing quality and installation documentation
• Maintaining excellent health and safety standards

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Valid CSCS Card
• Valid IPAF Licence
• Previous experience as a Steel Erector or Steel Fitter
• Fabrication and welding experience
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Experience working at height
• Strong understanding of site health and safety requirements
• Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away from home when required
