Jobs.co.uk is seeking a Steel Erector based in High Wycombe to travel to various project locations. The role runs from 08:00–17:00 Monday–Thursday and 07:00–16:00 Fridays, with duties including erecting steel frames, reading drawings, and coordinating with supervisors and crane operators.

The ideal candidate will have proven steel erection experience, the ability to read technical drawings, a CSCS card, and be comfortable working at height and in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a steel erector on commercial or industrial projects.
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
• CSCS card required; IPAF, CPCS, or slinger/signaller qualifications advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to work at height and in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Erect structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and site plans.
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, crane operators, and fabrication teams.
• Install bolted connections, bracing, and secondary steelwork.
• Operate lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely.
• Maintain high standards of site safety and housekeeping.
• Adapt to changing project requirements and assist with on site problem solving.

About The Role

Based in High Wycombe, this permanent, full-time Steel Erector role involves travelling to various project sites. Working 08:00-17:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00-16:00 on Fridays, the postholder erects structural steel frames, beams, columns and associated components. Duties include reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and site plans, and coordinating with site supervisors, crane operators and fabrication teams. The successful candidate must work independently, manage day-to-day site activities and ensure smooth progress across each stage of erection. Experience in steel erection and site installation is essential.

The salary starts at a minimum of £34,000 per annum, rising depending on experience.

• Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
• Full UK driving licence
• Own transport essential
• Ability to weld would be advantageous
