Job description
Overview

Dorset HealthCare are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our supportive team!

As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant you will be joining the Dorset Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy service that is supportive and dynamic. You will be responsible for supporting patients and the service across North Dorset and Wareham, and will be based at Blandford Hospital. We see patients in outpatient clinics, on hospital wards and in their own homes. We welcome ideas of change that could contribute to creating a better service for people living with acquired and swallowing difficulties. You will be supported by Speech and Language Therapists, a team manager, and a clinical lead. You will have the opportunity to work with SLT assistants, local adult acute SLT teams, and the paediatric SLT community team. We offer CPD opportunities, regular supervision and peer supervision. We embrace flexible working and support a hybrid model of working from home as well as the office.

Responsibilities
  • To work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy team in provision of high quality person centred rehabilitation & support to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.
  • Following direction from qualified clinicians work independently to implement planned treatment interventions and assist in the development of programmes of care.
  • To provide confidential administration, secretarial and IT support to the Community Speech and Language Therapy Service.
  • To take responsibility for the maintenance and preparation of the communication aids used within the service.
Qualifications
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
  • Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
