Qualifications

  • HCPC registered.
  • 1-2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience engaging with individuals with complex communication profiles.

Job Title

Speech and Language Therapist

Location

Yiewsley Grange School – West Drayton UB7 7QP

Salary

Up to £53,200 FTE DOE plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus (one payment of £2,500 after one month and a further £2,500 upon completion of the final probation period – T&C’s apply)

Hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Contract

Permanent (term‑time only or flexible full‑time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Yiewsley Grange School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities while taking into account the requirements of your governing and professional bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hold a dedicated Speech and Language Therapy caseload under the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Deliver comprehensive assessment and intervention to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities.
Essential Criteria
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • 1‑2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting
  • Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary work across various settings
  • Experience communicating with families and carers
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
  • Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and formulation of support plans
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and progress towards further qualifications relevant to the client group
  • ASD experience
Desirable
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication strengths and challenges
  • Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
