Qualifications

Job title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Acorn Park School – Norfolk NR16 2HU
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata DOE
*Please note: basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+ & Highly specialist from £48,000+*

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)

Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join the in-house clinical team at Acorn Park School. You will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding practice within an education setting and clarifying roles and responsibilities in line with governing and professional bodies. You will hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This role suits a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Location

Acorn Park School – Norfolk. Acorn Park School forms part of our Options Autism brand and is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 4–19.

Essential criteria
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered
  • 1–2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting
  • Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working across settings
  • Experience of communicating with families/relatives and carers
  • Interest in developing knowledge in different areas of SaLT practice
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Competence in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans
  • Awareness of legislation and implications for clinical practice and professional management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue additional qualifications relevant to the client group
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirable
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences affecting communication
  • Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
