Qualifications

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments of inpatients referred to the service in preparation for discharge planning.
  • Perform regular planned and urgent medical reviews of patients under the team’s care.
  • Support other staff in managing physical health needs.
  • Attend and participate in team reflective practice and formulation sessions.
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Justice, other healthcare providers (including GPs) and criminal justice agencies as required.
  • Prepare and submit written reports when necessary.
  • Attend monthly peer-group meetings of Specialty Doctors, which include teaching sessions.
  • Optionally join the MRCPsych course for Resident doctors.
  • Participate in regular management supervision by the line manager.
  • Taken advantage of additional clinical and managerial roles and senior leadership opportunities within the service.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Completion of four years postgraduate training, with at least two years within a psychiatry training programme or equivalent experience and competences.
  • Experience in community mental health settings (preferred).
Career Development
  • Established process to support Specialty Doctors pursuing career progression, including Acting Up opportunities and support for CESR applications.
