The Department of Anaesthesia at Homerton Hospital developed as a satellite service from the Department of Anaesthesia at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in 1986. Over the years it has evolved and is now an independent department with a dynamic, young team of dedicated anaesthetists within the SWNS directorate. Good links with the Barts Health NHS Trust are maintained, with some consultants working across sites. We are the first department in the UK to gain service accreditation under the Royal College of Anaesthetists ACSA scheme in August 2014, 2018 and 2023.
