Job summary

SignHealth in Manchester is seeking a Specialist Support Worker (Male only) to support deaf clients with complex needs and/or mental health conditions at Claridge Road.

You will be a key worker, supporting independent living, monitoring medications and ensuring safety, privacy and dignity in line with CQC regulations and organisational policies. The role covers 42 hours per week across shifts, with paid training in BSL and strong staff wellbeing provisions.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with varying degrees of deafness, including culturally deaf.
• British Sign Language (BSL) or willingness to learn BSL.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions where diagnosis is complex and may present challenging behaviours.
• Experience in supported living or residential care services.

Responsibilities

• Becomes a key worker to a specific client, supporting independent living skills.
• Provide emotional support and monitor medication as required.
• Uphold safety, privacy and dignity in line with CQC regulations and organisational policies.

We are looking for male staff with:

• Experience of working with varying degrees of deafness, including those who are culturally deaf

• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions where diagnosis is complex and may present behaviour that can challenge
• Experience of working in supported living services/or residential care services

You will become a key worker to a specific client, supporting them with independent living skills, emotional support, monitoring of their medication and where appropriate maintain safety, privacy and dignity in accordance with CQC regulations and organisation policies and procedures.
