Job summary

SignHealth invites applications for a Specialist Support Worker based in Manchester at Bowfell Road. The role involves supporting individuals with varying levels of deafness, promoting independence, monitoring medications and ensuring dignity in line with CQC standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience with learning disabilities or mental health challenges, a willingness to learn BSL, and excellent communication skills.

Specialist Support Worker – Bowfell Road, Manchester

Job Title: Specialist Support Worker
Location: Bowfell Road, Manchester
Salary: £13.85 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week – Permanent: Rota includes early, late and sleep in shifts across 7 days including weekends and bank holidays.
Closing date: 14 August 2026

We are looking for people with:

  • Experience of working with varying degrees of deafness, including those who are culturally deaf
  • British Sign Language (BSL) or a willingness to learn BSL
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health challenges where diagnosis is complex and may present challenging behaviour
  • Experience of working in supported living services/or residential care services

You will become a key worker to a specific client, supporting them with independent living skills, emotional support, monitoring of their medication and where appropriate maintain safety, privacy and dignity in accordance with CQC regulations and organisation policies and procedures.
