Job summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Staff Nurse for Alwinton, part of Secure Care Services at Sycamore, Northgate Park in Morpeth. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care, focusing on learning disabilities and complex needs.

The role involves care planning, risk assessments, medication management, and promoting positive behaviour support within a medium-secure inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• First Level Registration RMN/RNMH/RNLD qualification.
• Continued professional development.
• Current UK registration.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with learning disabilities and complex needs.
• Build therapeutic relationships, promoting dignity, respect, choice, engagement and recovery.
• Complete and review clinical assessments, risk assessments and care plans.
• Monitor mental and physical health and elevate concerns promptly.
• Administer medication safely in line with Trust policies.
• Implement positive behaviour support strategies to reduce distress and incidents.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic ward environment for patients and staff.
• Coordinate care with MDT, families and external agencies.
• Encourage meaningful activities and progression towards recovery goals.
• Maintain confidential clinical records and handovers.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Support healthcare staff and nursing colleagues through shift coordination.
• Participate in clinical reviews, handovers and team meetings.
