Job summary

The Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Staff Nurse to join Alwinton, part of Secure Care Services at Sycamore, Northgate Park. You will work within the nursing team delivering safe, person-centred care.

You will undertake care planning, risk assessment, medication management and promote positive behaviour support, with opportunities to develop specialist skills in secure learning disability care within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Registered RMN/RNLD with NMC and on the professional register.
• Continued professional development
• Experience with learning disabilities desirable

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with learning disabilities and complex needs.
• Build therapeutic relationships, promoting dignity, respect, engagement and recovery.
• Complete and review clinical assessments, risk assessments and care plans to reflect changing needs and risks.
• Monitor mental and physical health, recognise changes and elevate concerns promptly.
• Administer medication safely in line with Trust policies and standards.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic ward environment and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
