A National Health Service Trust is looking for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join its team in London. This permanent position will involve providing effective therapy services across diverse community settings, with opportunities for professional development and participation in service innovations. Responsibilities include patient care, involvement in clinical research projects, and comprehensive induction training. Applicants should be enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated to contribute to a patient-centered care approach.
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our team within NELFT. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated individual to join our friendly department as part of our band 6 rotation scheme on a permanent basis.
The post holder will work within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team and have the opportunity to provide an effective service to patients across NELFT community sites, including the diverse London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.
The rotations include a range of community and inpatient rehab settings including Community Neurology, Stroke Rehab inpatients, Community Head and Neck Cancer, and Community Voice/Dysphagia. Each rotation is 9 months long. While experience of previous work with all of these client groups would be advantageous, we encourage applications from those who have worked with a sub‑section of them. Support will be given by our senior specialist therapists to effectively support and develop further competency in managing client groups where you have less experience.
Adult Speech and Language Therapy are a respected and integrated part of the multidisciplinary team, with a positive record of developing innovative and patient centred services. The service runs weekly community videofluoroscopy and FEES clinics, and a monthly joint voice/swallowing clinic with ENT. The team pioneered a student supported Intensive Comprehensive Aphasia Programme and were highly commended in the HSJ awards for their development of community laryngectomy care. The team is supporting clinical research projects and collaborating with local system partners to improve communication accessibility of services. CPD is actively supported through regular clinical supervision with senior speech and language therapists, appraisals and excellent training opportunities. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in service development initiatives.
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team and senior managers, and attend a number of drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
