Entry Criteria for a Specialist Doctor:

• Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council.
• Minimum of 10 years’ medical work experience since primary medical qualification, with at least six years in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent experience from other medical grades, including overseas, will be accepted.
• Meeting the criteria set out in the Specialist grade generic capabilities framework.

Post Summary:

• Provide mental health services for children (0-18 years) with mental health problems referred to Tier 3 services, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide clinical supervision to higher and core trainees.
• Participate in clinical service audits.
• Contribute to the implementation of Lothian’s Joint Strategy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and the CAMHS development strategy.
• Provide reciprocal cover for colleagues during leave periods.
• Undertake duties as an Approved Medical Practitioner under the Mental Health Care and Treatment (Scotland) Act 2003.
• Perform duties as per the agreed job plan and other duties as advised by the Clinical Director and Clinical Service Manager.
