Job description

South West Norse is part of the Norse Group, a national, award-winning property consultancy. Our highly regarded Estate Management & Valuation Department, carry out land assembly, negotiated acquisitions, and acquisitions through Compulsory Purchase or under the threat of Compulsory Purchase for a number of Acquiring Authorities across the South West Peninsula.

Following a recent retirement we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist CPO Surveyor to join the team ideally on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Main Responsibilities

Land assembly for highway schemes, exercising Compulsory Purchase powers, acquiring land and property interests via negotiation or through CPO powers, dealing with notices to enter and notices to treat, general vesting orders, blight notices, equivalent reinstatement claims, compensation claims to include severance and injurious affection, accommodation works, and ultimately Part 1 Claims. All dealings to be carried out in accordance with the Compensation Code.

Candidate Requirements

Our successful candidate will have extensive previous experience within a similar role, either in the public or private sector, supported by:

  • We are ideally looking for an experienced Compulsory Purchase Specialist with at least 10 years PQE.
  • Professional Chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and bachelors degree or equivalent in a Real Estates discipline.
  • Member of the Compulsory Purchase Association.
  • Familiarity with the Compulsory Purchase Code.
  • Ideally some experience of taking cases through the Upper Tribunal Lands Chamber.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal support or within a large multi-disciplinary team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence to meet the travel requirements of the role
