Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with an inclusive Primary School in Birmingham to recruit a full-time SENCO. The role leads SEND provision, coordinating EHCPs and annual reviews, and working closely with SLT, staff and families to secure outcomes for pupils with additional needs. Requires UK QTS and SENCO qualification with primary experience.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• A recognised SENCO qualification such as NASENCO or NPQ for SENCOs.
• Previous experience working successfully as a SENCO.
• Primary school experience across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
• Experience leading SEND provision within a SLT context.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the school's approach to SEND and inclusion.
• Oversee the identification, assessment and provision for pupils with SEND.
• Coordinate EHCPs, annual reviews and statutory processes.
• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate SEND interventions impact.
• Support teachers with adaptive teaching, differentiation and strategies.
• Lead and support teaching assistants and staff working with SEND pupils.
• Provide SEND coaching and professional development to staff.
• Liaise with parents, local authorities and external agencies.

SENCO Inclusive Primary School

TeacherActive is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Primary School to recruit an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for a full-time position.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established SENCO or experienced SEND leader who is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

The successful candidate will take a strategic lead on SEND provision across the school, working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team, teachers, support staff, parents, carers and external professionals.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

• Experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A strong commitment to inclusive education and pupil success.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the impact of SEND interventions.
• Support teachers with adaptive teaching, differentiation and appropriate strategies.
• Lead and support teaching assistants and other staff working with SEND pupils.
• Provide SEND guidance, coaching and professional development to staff.
• Liaise effectively with parents, carers, local authorities and external agencies.
• Work with educational psychologists, therapists and other professionals.
• Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure statutory requirements are met.
• Contribute to SLT meetings and whole-school improvement planning.
• Promote a positive culture where pupils with SEND are fully included in school life.
