Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced SENCo in the Birmingham area to join a specialist school supporting pupils aged 7 to 16 with autism. You will lead and develop the SEND provision, ensuring high-quality support and compliance with statutory duties.

You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies to monitor progress, drive inclusive practice and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • NASENCo or willingness to work towards it.
  • Previous SENCo or SEND leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the school's SEND provision and ensure statutory duties are met.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, staff, families and external agencies to support pupils with autism.
  • Monitor progress and drive inclusive practice to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

A specialist school in the North Birmingham area is seeking an experienced SENCo to join their dedicated team. The school supports children and young people aged 7 to 16 with autism, providing a nurturing, structured environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.


This is an exciting opportunity for a SENCo to lead and develop the school's SEND provision, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the highest standard of support. You will play a key role in driving inclusive practice, monitoring progress and ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.


The successful SENCo will have:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo), or be willing to work towards it if applicable

  • Previous experience working as a SENCo or within a SEND leadership role

  • A strong understanding of autism and effective strategies to support pupils with additional needs

  • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills

  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND
