Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs. Working under the class teacher, you will support pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and attend to personal needs within or outside the classroom.

Key duties include assisting with programmes such as Education Plans, contributing to inclusive practice, promoting independence, maintaining safety, and supporting administration of medicines where required.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification or equivalent with at least 6 weeks relevant experience.
• Alternatively, 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding and child protection.
• Ability to follow systems and work as part of a team.

Responsabilités

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with SEND, enabling curriculum access.
• Support personal needs including dietary, feeding, toileting, etc.
• Assist with programmes (Education Plan/ Care Plan) and monitor progress.
• Promote pupil independence and inclusion in mainstream settings.
• Assist with classroom administration and resource preparation.
• Safely supervise pupils and support off-site activities where directed.
