Job summary

Lakeside, part of the Warner Hotels Group, invites applications for a Sous Chef to lead our culinary team. The role focuses on day-to-day kitchen management, staff development, and delivering exceptional dining experiences for guests.

You will prioritise food safety, cost control, and teamwork in a branded hotel setting, supporting the Head Chef to maintain high guest satisfaction and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Food safety standards and HACCP knowledge.
• Ability to lead, train and motivate a kitchen team.
• Strong cost awareness and inventory management.
• Capable of working in a branded hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations across all stations.
• Supervise and train junior chefs, fostering teamwork.
• Ensure high food safety, storage, handling and cooking practices.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage food costs against targets.
• Support Head Chef and respond to guest feedback to maintain satisfaction.

Join our team at Lakeside, part of the Warner Hotels Group. This hotel on Hayling Island has spa facilities, a cabaret restaurant, and overlooks a lake near the Hampshire coast.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Warner Hotels, helping to create exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

As Sous Chef, what will I be doing?

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring all stations are properly organised and prepared for service.
• Supervising and training junior chefs, promoting a positive and collaborative working environment.
• Ensuring food safety standards are always adhered to, including proper storage, handling, and cooking techniques.
• Monitoring inventory levels and managing food costs to meet financial targets.
• Supporting the Head Chef in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and responding to guest feedback

What are we looking for?

A Sous Chef who understands the importance of working in a branded environment. You will have the ability to create a culture of support and actively encourages teamwork.You'll be willing to challenge and coach the team if standards aren’t meeting required levels, as you're a chef with a passion for great food and service.
